Catch the Sparrow

The members of Catch the Sparrow joined up in Los Angeles in 1968 after successful runs in three other bands (Moore Speedcrane, The Berries, The Fysh). They had a unique chemistry (when they weren't chasing the same women). Known for their tight harmonies, intricate guitar parts and moving lyrics, the band captured the vibe of the era. The band broke up shortly after the 1971 PLUS Fest but reformed--and split again--numerous times over the next two decades.
The hit "Desperately Dining" off their debut album was believed at the time to be highly metaphorical. However, witnessing the trio's "growth" over the subsequent years, some have speculated that the song was literal (and a cry for help). No band member has gone on the record to address the issue.
